Drag Racers Caused Deadly Crash In Lauderhill — Woman Dies On Bus Bench.

Deadly Drag Racers Claimed Lives.

Lauderhill, FL

Two motorists racing north on State Road 7, at about noon, at NW 12th Street in Lauderhill caused mayhem to rain down on three people sitting on a bus bench — one of them died on the scene.

A black PT Cruiser slammed into a woman waiting on a bus after it was struck from behind by one of the drag racers.

One of the speed demons also lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a utility pole.

On the scene, police discovered a person with paraplegia in the back seat of the car that hit the back of the PT Cruiser. The disabled young man is believed to be the twin brother of one of the drag racers that struck the PT Cruiser.

Senseless Tragedy

The crash caused State Road 7 to be shut down between NW 12th Street and NW 16 Street, in both directions for more than six hours.

The southbound lanes have been reopened, but northbound lanes remained closed even after 7:00 p.m.

Florida Power & Light company was on location to repair a light pole that was damaged on impact.

Lauderhill PD released the name of the person that died at the scene as Helaine Elize — next of kin have been notified. The other woman hit by the vehicle was identified as Elsiane Tulisse.

In all, there has been seven medical crash related transport to area hospitals.

The driver of the other car that was involved in the race and contributed to the accident is still on the

loose.
