"Casino" is a film that is undoubtedly underestimated and forgotten by modern audiences. It was always overshadowed by another Martin Scorsese movie, "The Boys from the gang," who took many more awards.

The truth is, however, that "Casino" is in no way inferior to "Boys from the gang", and in some respects even beats them. Both of these pictures are very similar to each other – the same director and screenwriter, as well as some actors, worked on both.

Personally, I liked the 1995 movie more – mainly because it has an amazing atmosphere and the whole story was told well. Here, Scorsese used his typical narrative style, which once again proved to be excellent. Using proven methods, he directed another masterpiece that belongs to the top of the best films of the genre. At her command, he becomes the owner of a casino in Las Vegas. Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci) becomes his "bodyguard". They both get rich on their illegal interests. However, their happiness does not last forever … Joe Pesci created one of his best roles here. As in "Chłopcy z Ferajny", he played quite a psychic and cruel, but also the most interesting character. Robert De Niro also had a great performance. His eyes shine with confidence and, at the same time, contempt for society. He is a flesh and blood gangster who looks down on others, although he has feelings anyway. Sharon Stone also performed very well as the main character’s wife.

She sensationally captured the emotions tormenting her character. Joe Pesci Universal PicturesSyalis DALégende EntreprisesDe Fina-Cappa From the very first minutes, the film shows signs of being outstanding.

Even the opening sequence seems amazing, and the director took care of every detail – from perfectly selected background music to the perfect play of lights.

Then Scorsese slowly unfolds the gangster underworld and its reality. It does it without haste and with great accuracy, but it does not bore the viewer even for a moment. It is admirable that for almost three hours the film maintains an outstanding level and does not cease to delight even for a moment.

Gangster atmosphere with a bit of humor, but also not devoid of drama, is the greatest asset of the production. It has endured the passage of time sensationally and does not nudge the mouse a bit.

Supposedly, there aren’t many shootings or chases in the movie, but it’s still dynamic in its own way. What deserves respect is, above all, outstanding direction, a great script with great dialogues and convincing acting. It all makes "Casino" a masterpiece ..
