A 50-year old Asian man was shot and is now fighting for his life; after students at the University of Washington tried to prevent right-wing attendants from entering (the University’s) Kane Hall to listen to a racist speaker.
A 25-year old man has been taken into custody, as a person of interest.
It has been learned that the person of interest turned himself into police and claimed that he attempted to murder the Asian man in self-defense.
Authorities have not yet determined why the shooter carried the gun, in the first place, to an event that was billed as a peaceful rally.
The keynote speaker was a controversial rabble-rouser, from the Breitbart News Network — editor Milo Yiannopoulos.
EMS were dispatched to the scene at about 8:26 pm. Some witnesses on the scene said that police had paint thrown at them.
Yiannopulos is stand-in editor, in place of Steve Bannon. Bannon left Breitbart to run Donald Trump’s campaign and is now one of the President’s top advisors.
