Hail, Hail Rock & Roll / Chuck Berry. Premier “Rock ‘n’ Roll Innovator.
A pioneer of Rock ‘N’ Roll music and guitar licks innovator, Chuck Berry has passed away at the age of 90.
Mr. Berry was a master entertainer, since or before April 1955 when he became visible to a wider audience after inking a deal with the Chess Record label.
Chuck (born Charles Edward Anderson “Chuck” Berry in Saint Louis Missouri) recorded his first song entitled Maybelline on Chess. It became a “cross-over” hit after it received heavy rotation by a New York DJ.
Chuch went to released “Roll Over Beethoven” in 1956 which claimed to # 37 on Billboard Hot 100 charts, followed by “Rock and Roll Music” (1957) and Johnny B. Goode in 1958.
One of his trademark moves on stage was his Egyptian style head bobbing and duck-walk across the stage during his performance.
Numerous mega-talented artists such as the Kinks, Elvis Presley, the Beetles, Jimmy Hendricks and Rolling Stones copied his style of attention-grabbing guitar licks and riffs that colored some of his many hits of the ’50s and ’60s.
Chuck Berry passed away on March 18, 2017, in his home state of Missouri.
