An assassination attempt on California Governor Eleanor Grant is planned.

To complete the task, you need a person who will commit the murder of a politically important figure. The action must be planned in such a way as to remove suspicions from her spouse and closest associates who are in fact involved in it. Who is best to commit such a crime ?! Obviously someone very desperate. You can find and pay a professional sniper a larger sum for the annihilation of the Governor, but that would facilitate police investigation. It is better to find a random person, kidnap someone from her family and terrorize. After all, it’s much cheaper than a sharpshooter … As always, we didn’t show off translating the title into Polish. I don’t know why we give our own completely different names to foreign films. "Live"? Which thread is it related to? Honestly, I prefer "Nick of Time" anymore, although I don’t like the use of English names all the time. A 1995 film – so don’t expect any exceptional special effects, although it smells like an action movie. Bad plot management meant that the film does not hold you in suspense for the entire 90 minutes, which is a pity, because the script is quite interesting and it was enough to present it a little better. The actors play stiffly. It is true that the main character was in an exceptional situation – his daughter was kidnapped, but when she appears on the screen, we have the impression that she has a problem with coordinating movements. The brawl scenes are extremely artificial, not to mention how weird Gene Watson falls into the pond after a fight with his daughter’s kidnapper. Now let’s look at the other side – it’s kind of an action movie … Well, at least it was in 1995 … But let’s get to the point. Live was meant to keep you in suspense.

They wanted the viewer to get nervous while watching it and worry about the fate of accountant Watson and his daughter. That is what I appreciate him for – it is not an ordinary shooting, there is no disgusting violence, and there are not too many vulgar words in it.

Initially we are curious about the development of the action, but after some time you can predict what will happen.

In the middle of the movie, it seems to us that the 90 minutes that the protagonist has to shoot the governor is a whole eternity! As you may have noticed, the movie is also an hour and a half long. It is probably specially developed, but I think that for such a long time there are not enough exciting situations and suspenseful moments, making the film slowly boring. As for the scenario – I have minor reservations. First, the scene where Lynn Watson sees a couple kissing. No father tells his child about kissing her mother. This scene totally surprised me …

Another shortcoming – the scene in the elevator with the cleaning lady. The dialogues were artificial and not very clear. At first, it is not known what Huey asked the woman for anyway. Only when she in a strange way loses the pillow along with the card that opens the door to Eleanor Grant’s room, we find out what he meant.

The writer probably wanted to arouse our curiosity with this scene, but for my taste he did it in a very crude and unreadable way.

The movie is mediocre for the time being, but I suppose 1995 was one of the better. In any case, it’s worth watching it, primarily because of Johnny Depp’s character.

For fans of his "image" it is a real miracle, because he appears in almost every scene – mostly close-ups ..
