"Tremors" is a film directed by the then rookie Ron Underwood. I have come across this title before and I remember that it was not the worst. For this reason, I decided to recall this production again. The action takes place in the deserts of the state of Nevada.
Perfection is a town with a small number of inhabitants. The main characters of the film, Earl Bassett (Fred Ward) and Valentine McKee (Kevin Bacon), plan to leave their beloved town in search of better livelihoods. They change their minds when a series of mysterious murders occur in the Nevada deserts. The truth turns out to be shocking – huge snakes live underground, which have targeted the local inhabitants! The plot may not be revealing in any way, but it can be interesting. The very beginning is a bit long, although I think that was also the goal of the creators who wanted to lull the viewer a bit, in order to break us from lethargy at some point and … amuse us.
Yes Yes. "Shock" is a film that, despite its subject matter, has little in common with racial horror. It only has its seeds.
It contains a few (unfortunately weak) gore effects and an atmosphere of seclusion. The characters’ unrealisation is well represented. I also liked the location. The hot desert has its own atmosphere and the solutions contained in the film will certainly find their supporters. People focused on good entertainment will be especially satisfied, because "Shakes" are such a film. The aim of the creators was to provide viewers with relaxation and it must be admitted that they succeeded. People counting on a real horror movie will be absolutely disappointed.
It is closer to an adventure film with elements of horror. Acting is on a really good level. Kevin Bacon, known to a wider audience today, started with such productions. Earlier he played in the first part of the famous "Friday the 13th", although it was a less significant role than here. Probably Fred Ward deserves the greatest praise, his character is really nice and from the very first minutes he is liked by the audience. The music is pleasant to the ear and will not scare the viewer. The characterization of slimy bugs is not at the highest level, sometimes it can even arouse laughter, but on the other hand, you should turn a blind eye to it, because the film is still years old.
I could stick to a large number of shortcomings, but it does not make much sense, because they are not that obvious. "Shocks" is a good film, it will provide the viewers with the expected entertainment, if we properly adjust to the screening. Its biggest disadvantage is that it has too many debts that get annoying after a while. There is a lot missing from the classic "Shakes", but it was also to be expected. Nice cinema just in time for a summer evening.
Nothing more..
