Residents of several coastal cities were warned to move to safer grounds before Hurricane Harvey meandered his way on their homes.

Some people heeded the warnings while others decided to stay put in their residences, a decision that’s so far proved deadly for two people and injurious to many others.

As the Hurricane stalled over land, its powerful winds knocked out power to more than 300,000 people.

FEMA director William Long predicts the cleanup and rebuilds effort from the disaster could take months or years to complete.

“This will be a devastating disaster, probably the worst disaster the state’s seen,” William “Brock” Long, director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, told The Washington Post on Sunday. “

Meanwhile, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said Sunday that thousands of state and national guardsmen, 20 helicopters, and 60 boats and high-water vehicles had been deployed, and he declared that citizens should know “that the cavalry is coming.”

President Trump plans to visit the disaster zone on Tuesday for a photo-op and to up stage Hurricane Harvey, state, local and federal officials.
